FSI-1 & Guitar Firmware programmers for Mac 24 Jun 2017

In this post we are going to show how to update the firmware of the FSI-1 Fretsense Interface and the guitar/bass using the Mac firmware programmer apps.

Updating the FSI-1 firmware

  1. Download the FSI-1 Firmware Programmer from the downloads page.
  2. Download the FSI-1 firmware from the downloads page.
  3. Connect the FSI-1 to the computer via USB cable. Make sure the guitar is not plugged into the FSI-1.
  4. While holding down the MUTE button press the POWER button. This puts the FSI-1 into programming mode. When the FSI-1 is in programming mode the POWER LED will turn on while the MUTE LED will blink.
  5. Open the FSI-1 Firmware Programmer.
  6. Set both the Midi In and Midi Out to 'IR Fretsense Port 2'.
  7. Press the 'Select File & Program' button. Open the FSI-1 firmware file.
  8. The FSI-1 firmware will now be programmed.
  9. Close the programmer and restart the FSI-1.

Updating the guitar firmware with the FSI-1

  1. Download the Guitar Firmware Programmer from the downloads page.
  2. Download the appropriate firmware from the downloads page. For the FSI-1 you will need to download the 15-pin version of the firmware either 4.16 (4-string) or 5.16 (5-string).
  3. Connect the guitar to the FSI-1. Connect the FSI-1 to the computer via USB cable.
  4. Turn on the FSI-1.
  5. Open the Guitar Firmware Programmer.
  6. Set both the Midi In and Midi Out ports to 'IR Fretsense Port 2'.
  7. Press the 'Select File & Program' button. Open the firmware file you downloaded.
  8. The guitar firmware will now be programmed.
  9. Close the programmer and restart the FSI-1.
  10. You may need to wait a moment for the firmware to initialise.

Updating the guitar firmware with the MBM-1

  1. Download the Guitar Firmware Programmer from the downloads page.
  2. Download the appropriate firmware from the downloads page. For the MBM-1 you will need to download the 8-pin version of the firmware either 2.16 (4-string) or 3.16 (5-string).
  3. Connect the guitar to the MBM-1. Connect the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT of the MBM-1 to the computer via your audio/MIDI interface.
  4. Turn on the MBM-1.
  5. Open the Guitar Firmware Programmer.
  6. Set the Midi In and Midi Out ports according to your setup.
  7. Press the 'Select File & Program' button. Open the firmware file you downloaded.
  8. The guitar firmware will now be programmed.
  9. Close the programmer and restart the MBM-1.
  10. You may need to wait a moment for the firmware to initialise.
